Why did the client need our services?
New City College, the client based in Loughton in Essex, sought a survey following recurrent drainage blockages in the toilets and associated issues.
Drainpipes in colleges and educational facilities frequently encounter difficulties managing the large volume of water from toilets, sinks, and rainwater, exacerbated by students disposing of diverse waste materials. What work was carried out?
A team of drainage engineers attended the site to conduct essential unblocking procedures, starting with a comprehensive CCTV drainage survey. CCTV drain surveys are invaluable in blocked drain scenarios due to their ability to provide precise visual insights into the nature and location of obstructions. This technology aids engineers in accurately diagnosing blockages and determining the most effective course of action. Using the latest CCTV technology, this inspection determined that the blockage had formed within a stack pipe.
Employing an access cutter, the engineers successfully utilised the Picote machine to clear the obstruction. Following this intervention, a secondary CCTV drainage survey was conducted to verify the absence of any residual blockages, ensuring the complete restoration of optimal flow within the drainage system and mitigating the risk of future issues.
Were there any challenges?
The engineers needed access to the stack to deploy the necessary equipment to clear the blockage effectively. To facilitate this, they used an access cutter to gain entry into the stack. This specialised tool allowed them to create a precise opening to ensure thorough removal of the obstruction. Such meticulous access procedures are vital for ensuring the successful resolution of blockages and restoring optimal functionality to the drainage system.
What did the clients think of the results?
The client was 100 per cent satisfied with our drainage services.
